St Albans holiday loops

Weekend away with friends north of Wisemans ferry meant a good opportunity for a relaxed longer run at a slower than normal pace. We didn’t head out the door until gone 9am so the day was already very hot.

It’s been a few years since I have been up here and previous run have always been a longer out and back but the others were keen on keeping closer to home which did have the advantage of keeping a drink bottle at the gate as we passed. The route was 2.5km up to the local village pub and then back before doing the same out in the other direction.

With Andre still getting ready I set off with Ian towards the pub hilly winding road, around and back to pick up Andre at the gate for the next 5km. Ian dropped off the pace slightly as we headed out along the flatter section although we never even got anywhere near 5min pace so very relaxed which made a nice change. It was more about getting out.

Back to the gate and 10 done and I was keen for another loop. Ian headed back to the pool and Andre joined me for another trip to the pub and back to make it just over 15km. More importantly well over an hour on the legs as I slowly start to increase. Then back to jump into the pool with the kids. Perfect.
